tricycle takes the ferry

I was reminded recently of a simple act I never thought I’d miss: commuting. From 2015 to early 2020, I made the trek almost daily from Oakland to the Financial District of San Francisco. When my schedule allowed, I bypassed the crowded BART cars and opted instead to go by ferry. The open air, the city skyline, and the occasional glass of wine were a welcome pocket of contentment before or after a hectic work day.

I hadn’t taken that ferry since the onset of the pandemic. It was one of the first things I wanted to share with my new collaborator.
