peep show
Earlier this year, a.g. tricycle and I were in the midst of our first stage performance together through Eric Kuper’s Wandering Ensemble at CSU East Bay. Wandering in the Wilderness was intense physically and artistically, and was also our deepest creative collaboration to date as a pair. The show ran two consecutive weekends and in true pandemic fashion was held outdoors, on campus, socially distanced and masked.
Between weekends, I needed an escape from all of it: the highs and lows of performance, the ebullience of the other artists, and even from the hard metal seat of the tricycle. I escaped to Gualala, a small town on the northern coast of California for a short respite. On a walk on the beach, my dog Banjo and I discovered a secluded and inspiring little place that felt like it was meant just for us. I couldn’t help but stop and play. Rest does not always mean stillness.
